Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), VIETNAM - Ohhhh Saigon... aka Ho Chi Minh. What a sight to see. This trip was my first trip back to my family's motherland, and quite honestly, just blown away with excitement. I was born and raised in Canada, and proud to call myself a Canadian. But boy, I do love having a Vietnamese background. Years as a kid I would hear stories from my parents, grandparents, and of course, all the aunties and uncles, about their time in Vietnam before they escaped from the war. The simplistic and fun part of their lives. Truly an amazing experience to actually see the places I've heard stories about.
Alrighty then, let's get back to business... Banh Cuon,
BANH CUON TAY HO (click to visit TripAdvisor)- Tucked away from the city centre, We were in and out in a flash because we needed to be elsewhere quickly. Freshly steamed banh cuon is the best! This place is good, and this dish is pretty hard to mess up. Either the fish sauce (the main star of this dish) was not good at all or minced beef wasn't seasoned correctly. For here, the fish sauce could be better, but everything else was great.
Upon researching this place, Banh Cuon Tay Ho, it is a chain restaurant up in North California! But if you do visit a Vietnamese, restaurant, definitely try this dish out! ;)
